CELEBRATE DELIVERANCE

Often deliverance is associated with demonic oppression and exorcism, yet in the entire chapter of Psalm 107 we see the various forms of deliverances that the Lord exercised among the Israelites and continues to do so today for each believer.

I could not help but reflect on my life and testify of key areas of my life that I experienced the Lord’s deliverance. Together this week, let’s reflect on those areas and join together in thanksgiving with declarations that “the Lord is good and His mercies endures forever”
Consider these highlights:
• Have you ever gone through something that left you so lost as though you’ve lost your mind? OR even concluded that if it were not for God, you could have gone crazy. Did you cry out to the Lord and He brought you to your senses guiding you in wisdom- if so, consider Psalm 107:4-6

• Have you ever waited so long for an answer; you thirsted and waited and after sometime God responded filling you with more than you expected? If so consider Psalm 107: 9

• Have you ever acted in rebellion, got mad at God, decided to do your own thing, but yet seeing the failing outcomes of your independence, you ran back to the Lord and He still bailed you out? If so consider Psalm 107:11-13

• Have you ever been through something the world and experts say is impossible and unsalvageable, yet an encounter with our Almighty reversed it because all things are possible with Him? If so consider Psalm 107: 15-16

• Have you ever compromised so much so that the consequences were dire? Your friends died from of the consequences of what you compromised on yet, you escaped without a scratch? If so consider Psalm 107:17-22

• Have you barraged with attack after attack, seeing no breakthrough in things , facing days when your business was dry, your plans were at a standstill, when you lost all hope yet suddenly, the Lord intervened , bringing favor and fruitfulness in your life. If so, consider Psalm 107: 23-43.

I am sure you can write your life story testifying of the many accounts of the Lord’s deliverance in your life just from reading Psalm 107. This week ponder on them. Take time to celebrate God’s many deliverances in your life.

YOUR TERRITORY

To many the word “territorial” bears a negative connotation. However, there is positive and impactful side of territorialism when you recognize the true meaning of your territory and your role in it.

A few years ago, I had a revelation that where we are geographically is not by accident, that wherever we are if led of God, are God assigned placements to accomplish specific tasks. I’ve come to understand the definition of territory in this concept to mean; your neighborhood and the surrounding cities, your current job, your calling or vocation, your family, your church and even your marital status.

The idea behind staying territorial is to ensure you are accomplishing what God assigned you to do while in that position or geographical location. That said you may wonder what your assignment is. If you don’t start by praying. Pray for your neighbors and your neighborhood. Pray for the local and state officials, pray for the schools and colleges in your area. Pray for your boss and coworkers. Pray for your employer. Pray for the city your job is located. Pray for the patients in hospitals and birthing centers around you. Pray for the pastors and other churches in your area. I believe God has strategically placed each believer somewhere with an assignment to do something. Start with prayer, then ask God to show you what you are supposed to accomplish wherever He has placed you.

Being aware of our territorial assignments also keeps us focused and curbs unnecessary conflicts. For instance, if you know your calling/identity, you will not copy or strive with someone else. In fact, you may not even care what someone does or does not do; instead you will put all effort in what God called you to do.

Joshua 1:3 comes to mind. It says , I (The Lord) will give you every place where you set your foot as I promised to Moses. Is your foot somewhere right now. That’s your territory too; release God’s Kingdom in that atmosphere. Where God’s Kingdom is released, signs and wonders follow! Hallelujah!

This week, ponder on this Scripture with an open mind; aspire to live quietly with everyone, mind your own business, work with your own hands…. 1Thessalonians 4:11. Your home is your territory, your marriage is your territory, your own life is your territory. Ask God what He wants you to accomplish in your territory. Guard it, work hard at it, be the best at it. Stay and nurture your territory.

YOU HAVE TAKEN OFF OR ALREADY IN MID AIR-STAY IN TRANSIT

I have realized that the Lord speaks to me so often but I tend to miss the conversations because they happen in “odd” places when my mind is thinking about something completely unrelated to what the Lord is saying. In my ignorance, I’ve shortened these conversations.

Among them was a conversation about “moving with God to higher dimensions. These conversations occurred in the grocery store, the other occurred while I was opening a door to a building. Same subject, two settings. This past weekend, God continued the conversation through a speaker at a conference saying, “you have grown a strong backbone in 2017, now move forward in 2018”

2018 is about moving forward in God’s strength and power to pursue a greater measure of destiny. There are things that we entertained in 2017, we cannot take into 2018 because we have grown past them. Do you best to rise above offenses, misunderstandings, criticism, false accusations, hurts and setbacks. Do your best to avoid unproductive discussions, company and unproductive conflicts. Recently, I was encouraged by Dr. Bill Johnson. He said there are just some discussions he does not engage in; in fact, he excuses himself from them because they are opinions that unfounded in God’s Word and add no value to a person. Nothing should move you. Don’t engage in pettiness, you have either taken off or already in midair for greater purposes in 2018.

You see when a plane takes off, it reaches a point of “no return”. At this point, the plane only has one option –to take off. Once in the midair it also have 2 options to ascend to higher heights or to land. In both cases, take off and midair, the plane cannot go into reverse! It cannot backtrack. Complacent people, will frustrate you because they are comfortable with where they are. New things startle them. They will back track you with pettiness, offenses, nonsense that add no value to your destiny. Rise above them

Like an eagle, face the eye of the storm head on, embrace the lift. Keep your eyes focused on the vision God has given you. Stand tall in 2018, you have a strong backbone. You have taken off. You are already in midair approaching the next altitude. Stay in transit. Pretty soon you will land the plane. Your vision will manifest.

But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:13

GOD WILL WALK YOU THROUGH

The beginning of the year is often marked with evaluations, strategies and goal setting. As we reflect on 2017, I am sure you can attest to the ups and downs that you encountered in that year. As life would have it, you celebrated victories and successes on one side and also faced challenges on one side. Nevertheless; the Lord saw you through.

So let’s start 2018 with thanksgiving for all God did in 2017. Let’s also usher 2018 with thanksgiving and praise for what He will do this year. In fact, let us praise Him for what He has already done in this first week of January 2018. I know many are already fasting and seeking God in prayer this month; consider incorporating thanksgiving, praise and worship in your prayers.

Rejoice also, that the One who sees the end from the beginning has already seen what is coming ahead. Jesus has already seen your December 31, 2018. Rejoice that He has already sent His Angels and heavenly hosts to go before you and the Cloud of His glory is behind you. Rejoice that He has already provided a hedge of protection; in Him there is abundant provision. As you set foot into 2018, commit your ways to the Lord and He shall establish them. Psalm 37:4-7, Proverbs 16:3.Pursue oneness with God this year; if you do, you shall see Him. John 17:22. Call on God and He will answer you. He will show you hidden things for 2018 that you do not know yet Jeremiah 33:3

FOLKS, JESUS IS ON HIS WAY BACK

Scriptures Matthew 24:16-18- then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. Let no one on the housetop go down to take anything out of the house. Let no one in the field go back to get their cloak.

Revelation 22:11 -Let the one who does wrong continue to do wrong; let the vile person continue to be vile; let the one who does right continue to do right; and let the holy person continue to be holy.”

While cleaning the house last week, I had an impression that was later followed by the Scriptures in Matthew 24:16-18. The impression was forceful and with such urgency warning that Jesus Christ is coming soon.

The emphasis of this impression were the Scriptures. Let no one in the field go back to get their cloak. Immediately I felt a surge of urgency that we are seriously on the verge of His return and that I should focus on my assignment on earth and execute it effectively before His return.

I had forgotten about this encounter until this past Saturday. Over the Christmas dinner while fellowshipping with my Mom, she brought up the subject again citing Revelation 22:11. Mom shared that she senses the same too-Jesus is coming. Then it dawned on me that God was emphasizing a point and I needed to take this serious.

Folks, Jesus is on His way back. Encouraging all to evaluate our position in Him and our commitment to Him. Encouraging all to stay focused on the assignment you were given. Distractions may be there, but let’s not lose track and miss the mark. We are in race, let’s focus on the finish line to win the price. Let us not run aimlessly.

This applies to everyone, wherever you are whether in the workforce, business, school, ministry, live your life knowing Jesus can show up anytime now-will He find you ready? To those called in ministry, all spiritual leaders, let us focus on getting the Bride Ready. He is coming for a spotless Bride and we are privileged to co-labor with the Holy Spirit and Jesus in this preparation – Let no one in the field go back to get their cloak. Jesus is on His way back seriously!

IT MAY NOT BE THE IDEAL PLACE, BUT GOD WILL BLESS YOU ANYWAYS

McDonald’s restaurants are among my favorite fast food chains. It’s McDonalds followed by In-N-Out Burger on the west coast. I love Mickie-D French fries and their burgers. You cannot convince me otherwise. May be it’s because I worked there; my first job was at McDonald in Newark, New Jersey. I worked the closing shift and the weekends to accommodate my school schedule. I was freshly new to the USA. I recall mobbing the floor one Saturday afternoon; I heard in my spirit, “this will change”. This boosted my morale. I continued working knowing change will come.

From McDonalds, I worked other jobs too from housekeeping in hotels to nursing assistant.  Please leave a tip for the housekeeper in hotels. Tidy up the room a little before you leave.  It is a tough job! To save for college tuition, in summer I tripled in working (do not recommend it-don’t overwork yourself). Connecting from one job to another in my red hooded blue Plymouth Horizon- drove this car till it died, seriously stopped on me!

Generally, dreams start somewhere. No matter where you are in life, it may not be the ideal place, but God will bless you where you are. Joseph’s story from Genesis chapter 37 to Genesis chapter 50 is an encouragement of God’s favor, blessing, provision and protection. From the start we see God blessing Joseph. From dreaming -the pit -to being sold -to being handled over to pharaoh’s guards-to serving in pharaohs house-being falsely accused- to being imprisoned- being ignored-to finally being promoted to Prime Minister; God was with Joseph in each stage. In fact God’s presence was so noticeable because everything prospered around Joseph.

What’s your current situation? Are you somewhere you feel is not for you? Have you been ignored and by-passed in promotions? Was the compensation rate unfair? Did you miss the contract bid? Has your church only a few members? Did everybody leave? Have they skipped you in selecting you for an office? How come you are not a deacon (ness) or an elder yet? Can’t they see you can be the pastor? Did the less qualified person get the job? Are you stretching with little that you have left? Are you doing all you know to do and things seems at status quo? Could you use a promotion right about now?

Do not despise where you are. Continue to serve with thanksgiving and joy in the occupation you are. After all, as believers, where we are ministries. Continue to minister with excellence. The Lord hears our cries and He will deliver and save us from all fears and troubles Psalm 34:4-6. He will fulfill your desire  since you fear Him.  Psalm 145:19

Soon you too will have testimony like Joseph. The Lord was with Joseph and he found favor; he was successful, pharaoh and Egypt were blessed because of Joseph. Pretty soon, many will watch you and glorify God. They will say, because the Lord was with him/her (put your name here); and whatever he/she did, the Lord made it prosper.

EXPLORE GOD’S GENEROSITY

While following up with students in the school of ministry and discipleship (MJC School) today, I inquired about the outcome of assignments from last week. One student responded, “the Lord told me ‘X” and I kept receiving the same message each day”. At that response, I realized that Lord wanted to give her more.

My response to the student was “it seems the Lord was inviting you into a conversation with Him”. You see whenever God shows you one thing, it’s a hint that there is more to come. So, probe more from God. Engage God into a one on one conversation because there’s more He wants to show you and do with you. Embrace God’s generosity.

If you see a cloud, ask God for torrential rain. Elijah had this experience in 1Kings 18:41-45. There are many lessons from this incident; but the one that applies to this blog is that a cloud was the only thing initially shown, but with persistent pray, a rainstorm fell afterwards.

In the Lord’s prayer, we often pray “Give us this day our daily bread”. This same God says in Matthew 7: 9-11Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask Him! This means God always wants to give us good things when we ask. Like Elijah, we can persist and engage God in conversation until He answers with abundance.

Engage God in conversation and explore God’s generosity with what He has already given you, and watch if God will not give you surplus or provide more instructions about the initial instruction He gave you. The instruction -your cloud, may be a creative idea, a past prophesy, an instruction, a provision, even a blessing or an answered prayer. Ask God to show and give you more from what He has already provided you.

Has God instructed you? Do you have an old prophesy? Do you have a God given idea or a dream that needs to be put into action? Would like to see your business expand? Are you starting a new venture? Do you need clarity about your vision or goals? This week enlarge you’re the courts of your tents, spread out your tents, engage God in conversation. Embrace God’s generosity. God wants to give you more. Isaiah 54:2-3

GOD SPEAKS THROUGH SIMPLE INSTRUCTIONS

During a ministerial internship, I overhead a conversation where the recipient after listening for quite a while asked the speaker, “could you bring it local?” Bringing it local meant, “can you breakdown what you said to a level I can understand?

As believers we tend to speak in a lot of christianese that lose others who are not familiar with our jargon. Often, we tend to be so deep… but God on the other side communicates in a way He knows we will understand. God keeps it local!

At times God’s instructions are very simple. They can be a word or two, such as go here, look there, turn left, don’t move, pray now, move the car, call your husband, check on the kids, watch! Stay here, sit! No! quiet, Wait, don’t send that email! study Bahamas!

Do not mistake these as just your thoughts or imaginations; God could be talking to you. He tends to give you move instructions once you obey the initial directive. So, cultivate acting on the first instruction. He will show you more as you obey. Of course, there are times that He will speak metaphorically through dreams and encounters, but often God speaks through simple instructions. He brings it local!

Flexibility with God and the Holy Spirit involves responding to God’s instructions immediately on command. Meditate on John 10:27-My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow me.

This week reflect on the moments your brushed off as just your imaginations. Ask God to forgive you if you misjudged His voice. Move forward with listening to Him. God may speak to you though an inner voice, an inner knowing, a thought, your instinct or even an audible voice.

LET US FOCUS ON GOD’S GOODNESS

Romans 8:28- And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good for those who are called according to His purpose.

This Scripture is often referenced in times of hardship. To many including myself, this Scripture has brought comfort and strength to persevere especially in adversities that I did not understand. However, I realized this morning that this same Scripture is applicable when good things happen. These good things are God’s goodness that we experience daily even amidst adversities. Consider these:
•The Mercies of God are His goodness towards us, through them we are not destroyed
•God’s Loving Kindnesses are His goodness for us, by His love we know that nothing can separate us from God. His love is relentless, seeking us even when are stubborn and rebellious.
•Grace presents as the goodness of God when we know that human efforts or works cannot guarantee or sustain us. That it is by His Grace that we are
•God’s protection is His goodness towards us, knowing that we are covered under His wings
•His goodness presents in the redemptive power of the Blood of Jesus that brought us salvation, healing, deliverance, restoration and restitution.

If we reflect on where and what God has brought us from or through, we can testify of His goodness through the healings we have had, through the breakthroughs and answered prayers, through the just in time solutions that God brought forth at the eleventh hour! OR, when He redirects our lives to a much greater purpose; even that, is till God’s goodness.

This week focus on God’s goodness nonetheless. Focus on His ability, His power, His provision, His assuring promises, His Word that is guaranteed to perform! All things are working for your good. Declare God’s goodness back to Him. Shout it out loud; “God you are good, and your mercies endure forever. Say it, “Your loving kindness are from everlasting to everlasting”. Let us focus on the goodness of God!

GOD RESPONDS TO HUNGER

While browsing the search engine for the spelling of Zacchaeus, I came across the images of Zacchaeus and his encounter with Lord. You can see why the spelling search was necessary. In Swahili he would be called Zakayo which is very easy to spell. Anyway, I took interest in the images and was pleased to finally see how Zacchaeus looked like.

In some images, you could see the Jesus depicted looking at Zacchaeus and summoning him to come down the tree and head to his home for dinner. I took interest Zacchaeus physical features; he was short, most people around him were taller, his vision was obscured, due to his physique, he may have struggled climbing up a tree, but he was determined to see the Lord. Zacchaeus was Hungry for God.

Jesus in turn noticed Zacchaeus and asked to dine with him. There are a few lessons to learn from this encounter; the main one being that God responds to our hunger. Our sins and imperfections do not matter and should not be a hindrance to seek God. Though a tax collector which was deemed worse sinners then, Zacchaeus was determined to see Jesus. As long as there is a true genuine hunger for an encounter with Him, God will respond.

Zacchaeus’s next encounter was dinner and fellowship with Jesus. Hunger draws us close to God- intimacy at a personal level with God. Throughout the Gospels, it was very rare for Jesus to have met people without teaching them, healing or delivering them. So, this hunger-bred intimacy results in revelation and insight from the Lord. Luke 19:1 -26 Salvation, Healings and deliverances can take place in private one on one encounters with God also.

Lastly, the effects of the hunger results in repentance and it also draws others to Jesus. Zacchaeus and his entire household were impacted by Jesus’s visit. Jesus even exclaimed; “today salvation has come to this house”. Personal encounters with God, should then leave us hungry to impact others. I strongly believe that we encounter God privately in order to impact many. Spiritual gifts and natural talents are not just given by God for us to feel happy about them, get slain by them, have all the gold dust we can have just for “having sake” Each gift, each impartation; each encounter is given so that we can impact many others. But it all starts with HUNGER.

This week pray for the hunger of God. Ask God to fill you with hunger for more revelation of who He is to you. Ask God and invite the Holy Spirit to come and dine with you. Set time to be alone with God. Seek God and the rest will be added. Hunger for more of God. He will respond.
